Turkish and Colombian companies in the steel sector establish commercial relations
The Turkish Steel Exporters Union carried out a visit to Latin America with the purpose of establishing trade alliances and making new bilateral agreements with Colombia. To organize this event, the public relations agency Image and Press, a Colombian company with more than 30 years of experience in the sector and an expert in managing B2B meetings, was in charge of coordination.
During the visit, 14 representatives of 12 Turkish companies, supported by the Turkish Embassy in Colombia, met in Cartagena and Bogotá with more than 100 local companies in the sector. The main objective was to define strategies for the import and distribution of inputs from the steel industry to the Colombian market.
The Turkish delegation held bilateral meetings at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cartagena, where they met with representatives of the Latin American industry. Subsequently, after participating in the Alacero event, the delegation moved again to Bogotá to hold various meetings with companies and local authorities. Leading this delegation was Gürkan Türkaslan, member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Steel Exporters.
Türker Kocamış, the Commercial Attaché of the Turkish Embassy in Bogotá, also participated in the delegation. The objective of the delegation was to meet with high-level officials from both the public and private sectors in Colombia.
At this event, new collaborations, links and partnership opportunities were brought to the table. Turkish steel exporters were looking to sign new investment contracts and cooperation agreements at their meetings.
The Turkish-SteelCluster, the Turkish Steel Exporters Association, brings together more than 1,250 companies representing the main producers and exporters of the steel sector in Turkey. Founded in 1986, the association has established strategic alliances around the world and was now making its presence felt in Colombia.
Imports of steel, iron and aluminum in Colombia increased by 30%. Regarding Turkey's exports to Latin America and the Caribbean, they reached 2.4 billion dollars, while imports from this region amounted to 7 billion dollars. In recent years, bilateral foreign trade in steel between Turkey and Latin America and the Caribbean was around $900 million.
The final objective of this visit was to establish solid alliances between both markets and increase agreements for medium and large-scale national companies. This activity was open to Colombian entrepreneurs in the sector, providing significant opportunities for expansion and collaboration in the commercial field between Turkey and Colombia.
